LedgerPort Is Joining the Awesome Motive Family

Big news for a small team: LedgerPort is now part of Awesome Motive. Same product, same mission, much bigger engine behind it.

Today we get to share something we've been excited about for a while: LedgerPort is joining Awesome Motive — the company behind WPBeginner, WPForms, OptinMonster, MonsterInsights, PushEngage, and a family of software products used on more than 25 million websites.

If you're a LedgerPort customer, here's the summary you actually care about: nothing about your product, your pricing, or your data changes today. The same sync runs tonight. What changes is everything behind it — the resources, the engineering depth, and the ecosystem your accounting stack now lives inside.

If you're new here and wondering what LedgerPort even is — this is a good day to tell the whole story.

Why We Built LedgerPort

Every e-commerce store hits the same wall, usually somewhere around their first serious month of sales.

Shopify (or your payment gateway, if you're on WooCommerce) deposits money into your bank as net payouts — a batch of orders, minus refunds, minus processing fees, minus adjustments, landing as one lump sum. QuickBooks wants the opposite: gross sales, with fees and refunds broken out as their own lines. The two systems speak different languages, and if nobody translates, your payout never matches your books.

Store owners were solving this with Sunday-night spreadsheets. Accountants were solving it with unbillable hours. Most sync tools "solved" it by pushing thousands of order records into QuickBooks and calling it done — books that looked synced right up until someone tried to reconcile them.

We built LedgerPort to be the translator: payout-first accounting automation that starts from the deposit that actually hit your bank and works backward — gross sales, refunds, fees, and adjustments, each landing in the right account, every payout tied to the penny. Setup takes about fifteen minutes, and we publish our full docs openly so you can verify that claim before you connect anything.

Who LedgerPort Is For

Store owners on Shopify and WooCommerce. If you run a store on QuickBooks Online and your deposits never match your sales reports, you're the reason this product exists. LedgerPort works whether you're on Shopify (including Shopify Plus — install straight from the Shopify App Store) or WooCommerce (a native WordPress plugin with real-time sync — orders, refunds, products, and customers pushed as they happen). There's a free plan for stores up to 30 orders a month, and paid plans start at $25/month with a 14-day, no-questions money-back guarantee.

Accounting firms and bookkeepers. The other half of LedgerPort was built for the CPAs and bookkeepers who manage e-commerce clients — and who've been paying per-client subscription stacks or four-figure firm minimums for the privilege. In LedgerPort, every client is an isolated business under one firm login, each syncing to its own QuickBooks file. The CPA Partner Program adds hierarchical client management, wholesale billing, a Master Template that applies your standard chart of accounts across clients, and white-glove onboarding for your first client file.

What LedgerPort Does Today

  • Automatic Sync — every order, refund, and adjustment synced to QuickBooks automatically, with five recording methods to choose from (sales receipt, invoice, estimate, daily summary, and tag-based routing).
  • Fee & Payout Reconciliation — the core of the product: net deposits decomposed into gross sales, fees, refunds, and adjustments, so the bank line matches the books every time.
  • Smart Account Mapping — every transaction routed to the right QuickBooks account, with Auto-Map proposing matches by SKU or name and unmapped items held safely instead of posted wrong.
  • Refund Handling — refunds booked as contra-revenue with correct fee and tax treatment, including credit memos for invoice-based orders.
  • Multi-Store — multiple storefronts (Shopify, WooCommerce, or both) under one login, each with isolated books, settings, and connections.
  • Time Machine historical importbackfill up to 24 months of order history into QuickBooks, with automatic deduplication so re-pushes never create duplicates.
  • Audit log and error recoveryevery sync attempt logged with a status, filterable to errors, with one-click re-sync. Nothing fails silently.
  • Team rolesinvite staff with Admin or Member roles, so your bookkeeper can run syncs without touching billing.

What Awesome Motive Changes

Awesome Motive has spent more than a decade building tools that help small businesses grow online — and its WooCommerce ecosystem runs deep. Joining the family means three concrete things for LedgerPort:

  1. More engineering behind the roadmap. The features below ship faster with AM's resources than they ever could have on our own.
  2. A native home in the WooCommerce world. LedgerPort sits alongside products that millions of store owners already run — and we're exploring integrations with family brands like Wholesale Suite, FunnelKit, and Advanced Coupons, where wholesale terms, subscription revenue, and store-credit accounting meet the books.
  3. Stability you can build a practice on. For the accounting firms standardizing on LedgerPort, the question "will this tool be here in five years" now has the most boring possible answer. Boring is what you want from accounting infrastructure.

And to say it one more time, plainly: existing customers keep their plans, their pricing, and their data — exactly as they are.

The Road Ahead

Here's what we're working toward, in the order we're thinking about it (timelines will firm up as we settle in — this is direction, not a dated promise):

  • Multi-currency support — proper handling for stores selling internationally, from settlement-currency recording to conversion costs. This is the most-requested item on our list, and it's next.
  • Deeper WooCommerce B2B accounting — net terms, deposits, and tax-exempt wholesale flows, hand in hand with the AM ecosystem's wholesale tooling.
  • Broader channel coverage — bringing marketplace sales into the same payout-first model over time.
  • Partner Program expansion — more firm-level tooling, and a directory that connects store owners who need help with the accounting firms who run LedgerPort.
  • More of what you've told us matters — deeper reporting, more granular sync controls, and the steady unglamorous work of making every edge case boring.

Thank You

To every store owner who connected a store in our first months, every accountant who trusted us with a client file, and everyone who filed a bug or asked a hard question in support — this happened because you took a chance on a small tool with a specific opinion about how e-commerce books should work.

If you've been waiting to try LedgerPort: the free plan is here, the docs are open, and your first payout reconciles in about fifteen minutes. If you're an accounting firm, come meet the Partner Program.

Here's to clean books, for a lot more people.
